The Power of Makeup: Part II

Hello, lovelies!

How are you doing? Hope you’ve all had a great week 🙂 Today’s post’s part two of my The Power of Makeup post (if you missed part one, you can read it here).

For those of you who don’t know what this sort of post’s about, it’s pretty much me with half my face bare, the other half with makeup on, so you can see the difference makeup actually does.

Back in May, when I uploaded Part One, I wasn’t applying any products to my eyes (following my Lasik surgery) but told you guys that, when I started applying them again, I’d upload Part Two, so here it is 😉

This is everything I put on. For my face, nothing out of the ordinary (what can I say, I’m a creature of habits…). For foundation I chose Bourjois’ Healthy Mix, for concealer (and eyeshadow base) the Liquid Concealer by Wycon. I powdered everything with the two lightest shades from the Shade + Light palette from Kat Von D, added the lightest contour shade to the temples, jawline and hollows of the cheeks, and finished it all with my Kiko blush in ‘105’.

For eyeshadows, I actually  used MAC’s Wedge (the one that’s all by itself) all over my crease and on the lower lash line, then applied the dark auberginy shadow from my Nabla palette to the outer corners (of both lid and lower lash line) and then went in with the shadow right above it on my lid.

I followed that with a bit of eyeliner (slightly winged out, just the way it suits me better). Afterwards, I tightlined with a black Kohl pencil and applied a nude one to my waterline, so that my top lashes would appear fuller and my eyes seem more opened, more awake. Then plenty of mascara!

Moving on to brows, I hated the brow pencil! It’s by Gosh and I had to sharpen it before using it this time… It made a mess! Kept breaking and falling everywhere, it’s just not good. It went straight to the bin! But I topped it with Benefit’s Gimme Brow, and I absolutely love that!

Finally, lips. Being so ‘high maintenance’, I used three lip products: I started by slightly over-lining my lips, since I don’t really like their shape. For that, I used MAC’s Beurre, which is a ‘your lips but better’ shade. Then I applied Lolita, by Kat Von D. But then I found it all to be a bit too dark so I applied a bit of Written in the Stars by Fleur De Force over it. Et voilà, I was done!

And here’s the big reveal:

As you can see, my skin still looks like skin (those annoying blemishes are still visible), I still look like me (the better version of myself, that is), which is how I like my makeup to be 🙂

What about you, guys? Do you use any ‘cheats’/tricks when you do your makeup?

Love,

Alice ♥
