How To: Miniskirts

Hello, lovelies!

How are you doing? Today I bring you another post in the “How To” series, this time about miniskirts.

Since Summer’s here, it feels great to wear a miniskirt! It’s lighter and your legs are out, so you’re not that hot from the high temperatures and you get a bit of a tan going on as well.

Plus, miniskirts are attractive, elegant and very feminine. However, one has to pay attention to how to combine them to prevent them from being vulgar or achieve a look that’s too revealing.

That’s why I’m here, though. Simply follow these few rules and you’ll be fine 🙂

Pair it with shirts

If you want to give your skirt a more stylish look, it is best to incorporate a blouse or a long shirt that you can tuck in to give your figure a more slimming (and trendy) look.

Lets leave the crop top for the night

As the miniskirt is short, be careful that your look does not appear too vulgar when wearing a crop top. It is best to leave it for a night out and accompany it with a leather jacket or blazer.

You should also make sure that the clothes are not too tight. If the mini’s tight, it’s better for the crop top to be a bit loose and not too short to balance the look.

I know two of these are paired with shorts and another one’s sort of a midi-skirt, but the most important thing is the top and how it’s styled.

Do not use for work

While the miniskirt is attractive and never goes out of fashion, it is not an appropriate piece for the work environment. What’s good for the job is a midi skirt or a pencil skirt (like the white one right above). But the miniskirt doesn’t give  the appropriate image for your work.

The good thing’s that miniskirts look fabulous with all types of shoes! To the beach or a sunny day opt for flat sandals. For a casual look, you can wear some flats.

While heels help you to stylise the figure, you run the risk of being on the verge of the vulgar and sexy. That’s why it is best thing to do is to wear them with stilettos for a special occasion.

Be careful when sitting

By using a miniskirt, we shouldn’t only consider the occasion and the how to combine garments and footwear, but also the way in which we move. No doubt that in a miniskirt should keep legs together, but it’s imperative to sit with care and avoid walking with your legs too opened or apart.

Other important things to bear in mind:

♥ If you’re baring your legs sans tights, covering your arms always helps to balance the look up top. A long-sleeved version works to make you feel less exposed, than say a deep-plunging neckline.

♥ Although we’re often checking the length of our dress hem, the drop of our bag should also be taken into consideration. A bag that hits your lower back can slowly but surely make your dress ride up, leaving you feeling stripped bare. Instead, consider a mini handbag to pair with your mini. They are a match made in heaven! 🙂

♥ Always remember to step into the sunlight before venturing out. You want to make sure your piece isn’t see-through in the most important of spots.

Hope you’ve found this post helpful!

Do you guys like to wear miniskirts? I’d love to know! 🙂
