Non-Touring Is The New Thing

Hello, lovelies!

How are you doing? Today’s post is on something that I’m beyond excited about: non-touring!

This latest make-up trend is literally the opposite of contouring, as the name suggests. It’s essentially a marriage between contouring and strobing that provides a glowy sculpt to the face, but without the super-defined lines and ‘Kardashian-amounts’ of product 😛

A more daylight-friendly look, it’s all about getting that lit-from-within-glow using three products only: primer, tinted moisturiser, and highlighter.

This is how celebrity makeup artist Renee Sanganoo describes this new trend:

Instead of a heavy contoured look, non-touring is very soft. It’s about dewy and glowy skin—you don’t want the skin to look super matte or dry. It’s kind of like Spanx for the skin. You know you’re wearing it, but no one’s supposed to see it. In the summer, people are outside more and they tend to wear lighter foundation. It just looks more natural.

A technique that gives you that mid-August glow, while surviving the dog days of summer, Sanganoo breaks down exactly how to get the non-toured look in three easy steps:

Step 1: “Start with a primer that’s right for your skin type. If you’re oily, don’t use something that’s super matte. Look for one that’s dewy or has a luminous shimmer.”

Step 2: “Since this is a more natural look, a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream should be used instead of using a heavy, full coverage foundation. If you have problematic skin or blemishes, use a concealer as a spot treatment.”

Step 3: “The last step is highlighting, which is obviously a big trend right now. There are a lot of different highlighters, so it’s all about choosing what flatters your skin tone. If your skin is lighter, look for one with frosty pink undertones so it doesn’t make your skin look orange. If your skin is warm or darker, pick a golden bronze highlight. Brush on the highlight on the planes of the face where light would hit naturally—above the cheekbones, under the brow bone, down the bridge of the nose, and on the cupid’s bow.”

Most celebrities have already mastered the look, from Blake Lively, to Gigi Hadid, to Kendall Jenner…

It’s the perfect look for Spring & Summer! I’d wear that non-stop if I wasn’t so terrified of highlighters 😛

What about you, guys? Which one do you prefer: contouring or non-touring?

Love,

Alice ♥

    1. Yes, I think so too. I’ve always felt like the whole “Kardashian” look was a bit too much but a bit of contour never hurt anybody 😋 I do prefer this look for summer. As you said, it looks lighter and more fresh 🙂 xx

      1. Haha well a tiny bit of contour. I’m pretty sure no-one notices I’ve contoured it’s so subtle😄 definitely. I wear less makeup in summer as you don’t need it. X

      2. Same here! I barely apply any at all, just the tiniest bit to give a bit more definition to my non-existing cheekbones 😂 I do have to apply a bit of make-up in the summer since I have problematic skin and I don’t really feel that comfortable without any make-up on 😕

      4. Yeah, same here! Do you find it easy to find contour shades that work for you, since you have paler skin? I always thought it might be quite difficult for you paler people xD xx

      5. Haha yes it’s hard. I use a shade from my Makeup revolution palette but it takes a bit of blending. The Body Shop ones are really light but maybe too light even for me. Hardly looks like I’ve contoured when I use it😄 x

      6. I’m not a fan of The Body Shop’s makeup (other than a lippie), I must admit. I’d love to try their foundation drops, I don’t know the exact name of the product but I’m sure you know what I mean 😂 doesn’t Hoola work for you? xx

      7. Haha I don’t use much of their makeup either but the bronzers are good for super pale people. I do know what you mean☺ I haven’t tried it yet! I tested it in store and it looked a bit orangey on me so I’ve never bought it x

      8. Don’t you know someone who has it and that lets you try it? It would be nice to try it, I hear it’s great for even pale skin. It’s my favourite, I absolutely love it! xx
