Hello, lovelies!
How are you doing? Today I leave you with a post that was requested when I uploaded what I got for my birthday, which is about my skincare products by The Body Shop.
I updated my routine last Summer because I was advised to do so by a professional make-up artist/skincare expert when I took my Styling Course. I have already mentioned this on quite a few posts but I will explain everything again, for those of you that do not know.
I have always had super oily skin so everything I applied to my face had to be mattifying. And, let’s be honest, I was pretty carefree with my routine. But the expert I told you about explained me that the balance between water and oil in the skin should always be around 0-50. Therefore, by applying so many mattifying products and skipping steps in my routine, my skin was actually overproducing oil to compensate for the lack of water.
She advised me not to exfoliate (I used a gentle scrub everyday) but to do a deep cleansing facial mask once or twice a week instead, followed by a moisturising one.
As for everyday, these are the steps that I take:
♥ Wash my face with my bareMinerals Purifying Facial Cleanser;
♥ Go in with a cotton pad with my toner – I am currently finishing off my Ultra Calming Facial Toner, by Rituals;
(♥ This is the step where I should apply my eye cream (which is also by The Body Shop), but I just forget all about it )
♥ Apply my Intense Moisture Serum, also by Rituals;
♥ Daytime:
♥ Evenings:
The Seaweed Mattifying Daytime Moisturiser is perfect for oily skin: it has almost a gel-like consistency, which is very thin, that does not leave the skin greasy at all and is quickly absorbed. It has a very faint smell, which is quite fresh and not overpowering at all. It does a great job at keeping me matte almost everyday long (depending on which foundation I am wearing). Also, it is great for underneath foundation 🙂
The Vitamin E – Aqua Boost Sorbet has a very strange consistency (is not unpleasant, only weird and unusual, which is not a bad thing) but smells heavenly! I would seriously purchase this moisturiser for the scent alone! ❤ It is also quite light and quickly absorbed by the skin, not sticky at all. It does precisely what you would guess by its name – provides a boost of water to the skin. My skin improved so much when introduced it to my routine, you have no idea!
As for face masks, for deep cleansing I do this one myself. Then, for moisture, I apply this one by The Body Shop:
I was actually sent this one, which is not the one I had ordered. I had ordered the regular version and this one is the sleep-in. I decided to give it a go anyway and I am so glad I did!
I actually think this one works better than the regular one! And I thought sleep-in masks would be sticky and messy, and leave your pillowcase dirty, but this one does neither of those things, it is quite perfect.
Once or twice a week (depending on how many times I apply the cleansing mask), I apply a generous layer all over my face, focusing a bit more on my forehead and cheeks, which is where I tend to get dryer skin. My skin has never felt softer!
Do you guys use any products by The Body Shop? I would love to know your skincare routine and what works for you!
I hope you found this post helpful! 🙂
Love,
Alice ❤

I have the same day moisturiser 🙂 the mattifying night treatment too which soaks right into the skin. I’ve found that when I apply foundation my skin looks dry :/. I might try that Vitamin e mask 🙂 thanks! X

That daytime moisturiser really is amazing! The same thing was happening to my skin. As I was so oily, I used only mattifying products thinking it would make the oil go away. Turns out, it only made it worse! The balance of water and oil in your skin should always be 50-50 so I think your skin’s trying to tell you that it actually needs more water.
My advice, if I may: start by applying the Vitamin E mask once a week. If it still happens, apply twice a week. If, even then, it remains the same, then swatch the mattifying night treatment for the Vitamin E Aqua Boost. That will quickly provide the water that your skin needs, while the mattifying daytime moisturiser will help with the oil 🙂
Thank you so much for reading and commenting ❤ xx
