What I Got For My Birthday (2016)!

Hello, lovelies!

How are you doing? Since my birthday was a bit over two weeks ago, I thought I would do a post showing you what I got, like I did last year (you can read last year’s by clicking here). I always love watching youtubers showing what they got for their birthdays so I thought someone might want to read about what I got for mine πŸ˜›

Some of these things I am going to show you I got for myself since FeelUnique was having 50% off of make-up (brushes included). Think of it as my birthday gifts for myself πŸ˜›

Skincare

1. All Products
All ‘The Body Shop’ Products I Got
8. Vitamin E Hydrating Toner
Vitamin E – Hydrating Toner

My boyfriend was kind enough to offer me some of these products by The Body Shop that I was in such desperate need of πŸ™‚ ❀

Also, we ordered these online and TBS was having a promotion (when are they not having promotions, right?) – if you spent over €30, you could pick a free gift. One of the things you could chooseΒ was this Hydrating Toner (full size!) and, since I was going to get a toner anyway, I thought why not try this one?! So yeah, I ended up getting one of the products I was going to purchase anyway for free πŸ˜€

.

I got this facial cleanser from FeelUnique because I got one of those electric cleansers (like Clarisonic but waaaaay more affordable!) and I Β wanted a facial cleanser that I could use with that. This one had great reviews so I thought I would give it a try.

Also, I was about to run out of my usual cleanser (by L’OrΓ©al) and I cannot find that specific one anywhere here in France πŸ˜₯

Make-up

I took the chance to order these three brushes, since I did not have anything like them in my collection and I had always wanted to try Real Techniques’ brushes (and they had a great discount).

On the left-most side is a stippling brush, that is supposed to be perfect for applying foundation, making it look seamless, natural and like it is your skin that is that perfect.

In the middle, they call it a Blush Brush but I am going to use it for powdering, mostly in the under-eye area. You could, of course, use it for blush, or even for bronzing/contouring since it is slightly tapered.

On the right-hand side is a Sculpting Brush, as they call it. It is great for applying your contour, since it fits perfectly in the hollows of the cheeks. You could also use it for foundation, if you wanted to, and it is great for either cream or powder products.

.

6. Healthy Mix Foundation
Healthy Mix Foundation, Bourjois

I have heard sooooo many great things about this foundation that I just had to give it a try! I have ran out of my True Match and this is supposed to be similar, but better.

Also, I have been changing my products up a bit, since I used to go for anything mattifying and now I am leaning towards more hydrating products.

(As I have explained on a previous post, my skin had been overproducing oil for years and years – pretty much all my life – since it did not have nearly enough water. The balance of water and oil in your skin should always be 50-50 and when you are oily, you have a tendency to apply ‘mattifying’ products, that will only soak up the low amount of water you have, leaving you a greasy mess!)

.

7. Three Lippies
‘Written in the Stars’, Fleur De Force | Dior Rouge Baume in ‘760 Garden Party’ | Rouge Pur Couture in ’09 Rose Stiletto’, Yves Saint Laurent

(And there it is…trouble! πŸ˜› of course, FeelUnique gave me 50% off of make-up and I went and bought myself a YSL lipstick!)

8. FDF Written in the Stars
‘Written in the Stars’ Lipgloss, Fleur De Force

I had been wanting this lipgloss ever since it came out. First of all, I love Fleur! She is an amazing bauty blogger/youtuber, has a great eye for make-up and always kindly answers my tweets.

When she came up with her own make-up line (sold at FeelUnique), I fell in love with this lipgloss straight away. Me, of all people! A girl who does not like lipglosses at all!

Just look at this colour, though. How can you resist? It is a gorgeous mauve-pink, that ‘your lips but better’ colour that everyone has been obsessing over for the past couple of years but more on the pinky side.

On top of it, it is super pigmented and not sticky at all, which only made me love it even more! And look at the packaging and the logo…just gorgeous! ❀

.

This one was actually a gift from my mother-in-law. She was given one just like this one about a year ago and we both fell in love with it. When applied, it looks that you just ate a bunch of berries that stained your lips, but with a slight sheen to it.

It is also a baume (which is French for balm, basically πŸ˜› ), which means it is going to keep your lips moisturised throughout the day – I will report back on that.

.

My cheeky little purchase… I must admit, the one I wanted the most was sold-out so I ended up buying my second choice, which is this one you see right here. It is supposed to be a satin finish and it is a gorgeous berry-pink colour. I cannot wait to wear it, it will be a perfect colour for Spring!

.

Here you can see the swatches for the three lippies – the picture on the left was taken with daylight and the one on the right was taken with flash. This way you can see better the differences in the colours and finishes.

And this is all I got for my birthday! Is there anything here that you want to try or for me to review? Let me know and I will πŸ™‚

Also, have you tried any of these products? What were your thoughts on them?

Love,

Alice ❀
