Updated Skincare Routine

Hello, lovelies!

How are you doing? I apologise for being away for so long but I am back now 🙂 I have missed this! Writing to you and reading your comments…

Today I bring you my updated skincare routine. I realised a few weeks ago that I was doing everything wrong! I was talking to someone who knows a lot about this matter and she told me that your skin needs to have a perfect balance between water and oil (literally 50-50).

I was definitely not adding enough moisture to my skin because I was afraid it would make it oilier but that was actually happening due to the lack of water in my skin. As the skin was not getting enough water, it was overproducing oil to compensate for the absence of water.

So she advised me some products to add to my routine and also told me the correct order to apply them. I can tell you that, a couple of weeks in, my skin has never looked better! I take these steps both in the morning and before I go to bed at night, with a few changes that I tell you about ahead.

This is everything I use on my face at the moment:

1

*

Step 1: Face Wash

2

Washing your face first is a crucial part of any skincare routine as this will remove impurities from your skin. I have talked about this purifying gel wash a few times before, I absolutely love it! But, by all means, you can use one that suits your needs, does not have to be this one.

(Still cannot understand why its packaging comes in French, though…)

You can read more about it here.

*

Step 2: Toner

3

After washing your face, you should go in with toner as this will help remove the remaining impurities and prepare the skin for the next step. I am currently using this one from The Body Shop because I ran out of mine (this is the one I use regularly) but it is working as well.

You can read more about this toner here.

*

Step 3: Face Mist

4

This is magic in a bottle! I had used face mists before but none that came close to this one. I spray this on my face after my toner and I take it with me when I am out and about – I spray it again about three to for times during the day. It is refreshing, incredibly moisturising and smells like roses (which some people may find annoying but I am okay with)!

You can read more about it here.

*

Step 4: Eye Cream

5

You only have two layers of skin around your eyes so you really should apply your eye cream before your moisturiser. If you apply the latter first and then apply the former, it will do nothing, since the skin there already absorbed the moisturiser.

I really like this one but, to be honest, I have never tried any other. If you have one that works for you, there is no need to go out the door and buy this one asap.

You can read more about it here.

Step 5: Moisturiser

This is where it changes a bit. In the morning, I will use this one:

6 7

I have been using this moisturiser since October and I love it! It has a lovely, subtle scent, keeps me matte, balances the excess oil that my skin produces and also moisturises. What more can a girl ask for?

You can read more about it here.

At night, I will use this one:

8 9

It literally is “aqua boost” – it will give your skin the moisture it needs. And, as it is a sorbet, feels incredibly fresh. Oh! And I love the scent of this sorbet! If you go to The Body Shop any time soon, smell it 🙂 One of my favourite parts of the day is when I get to this step so I can smell it once more and have it on my skin (I know, I know, I am so weird!).

You can read more about it here.

*

Then, twice a week, I will apply these two masks:

First: Deep Cleansing

10 11

Even if you wash your face every single day and go in with the toner afterwards, you do not remove all of your skin’s impurities. Therefore, doing a deep cleansing mask twice a week is the way to make sure your skin remains impurity-free.

I feel like every skin type can use this mask, does not have to be limited to combination/oily, since every skin type has impurities.

You can read more about it here.

_

After That: Moisturising

12 13

This is pretty self-explanatory: it is an intensely hydrating face mask. I try to apply both these masks at night and, after applying this one, I remove the excess product with a cotton-pad and go to sleep like that, while there is still a layer of this left on my skin. Therefore, it will work its wonders throughout the night and I will wake up feeling like I have slept like a princess for twelve hours!

You can read more about it here.

And that is all for my skincare routine. I would love to hear about yours! Have you tried any of these products? Do you have any that you recommend?

Love,

Alice ❤
