Hello, lovelies!
How are you doing? Today I leave you with a few tips and tricks to make your eyes seem bigger. I find that most people – myself included – try to achieve this look so I thought I would share with you some tricks to give the illusion of a bigger eye. Hope you find this post helpful š
If only we could have been born with beautiful, big, Allison Harvard eyes…1. Prime your eyelids
This is a step that everyone should do, whether they have dry or oily eyelids. To do this, you want something that is tacky so it holds the shadow longer.Ā If you have dry eyelids, you can just use your concealer but if you are like me and have oily lids, then you really do need a base that will pick up moisture and keep your eye make-up looking fab for hours!
After priming your lids, you should always set it with powder – you can use your face powder (which is what I do) or an eyeshadow that matches your skin tone.
2. Conceal!
Brighten the area around your eyes: from under-eye to brow bone. This will bring light to the area and give the illusion of a bigger eye.
3. Highlight the inner corners of the eye
This will also bring light to this area and, therefore, make you look more awake and make your eyes seem bigger.
4. Choose a nude eyeliner for the lower lash line
Nude liner on your lower lash line makes you look more awake. It also makes the eyes appear larger, rounder and brighter without making them look overdone. The result? A youthful look that is great for everyday and also makes a subtle statement in an evening look.
Just so you know: applying a black liner on the lower lash line will make your eyes appear smaller and more closed.
5. Choose a dark liner/pencil for the upper lash line
For your upper lash line, you want to go in with a darker colour (black, dark brown, navy or charcoal) since it will contrast against the whites of your eyes, thus making you seem more awake.
6. Add a darker colour to your crease
Adding a darker colour to your crease will give the eye more definition.
7. Create a “V” shape with eyeshadow on the outer corner
8. Add a bit of shimmer
A neutral smoky eye is ideal to make your eyes seem bigger, since you are playing with dark and light. Having dark tones surrounding a lighter one gives the eye more shape and definition and the light colour actually makes the eye pop.
9. Create a wing with your pencil/liner
Creating a wing with your liner or pencil will elongate the eye and, therefore, give the illusion of a bigger eye. You can go with a little wing or with a bold one, it really is up to you. Also, having that definition on the upper lash line will also help your eyes looking more opened and bigger.
10. Smudge the outer third of your lower lash line
It is the same idea of creating a wing. By applying a darker eyeshadow to the outer third of your lower lash line, it will give the illusion of a more elongated, bigger eye.
11. Don’t forget your lashes!
This step is crucial to making the eye seem bigger, since longer, separated and full lashes do precisely that!
Start by curling your lashes: I know this is a difficult step for many people but it does make all the difference. And invest on a good curler! I used to have a super cheap one and my lashes would fall out because of it! I use one from Sephora – from their brand – and love it ā¤
After that, apply your favourite mascara. Again, if you’re trying to achieve the “bigger eyes” look, you should pick a mascara that both elongates and separates your lashes.
Optional: apply false eyelashes. Personally, I cannot do false lashes but it does help giving the illusion of a bigger eye. Once more, to achieve this look you should choose a pair of false lashes that are long, separated and a bit longer on the outer corner.
12. Shape your brows
It would be so much easier if we all had amazing, Lily Collins brows! Your brows frame your eyes and bring attention to them. It is very easy to overdraw your brows so be careful and bear in mind your eye and face shapes. It is always preferable to go with a subtle, natural, yet slightly polished look.
Love,
Alice ā¤
