My Beauty Essentials for Spring/Summer

Hello, lovelies!

How are you doing? Last week I left you with my fashion essentials for Spring/Summer and today I leave you with my beauty-related favourites for this time of the year! As in the previous post, if you click on the images it will open a new tab with the item’s website, so you can read more about it and buy it, shall you desire to do so 😉

Primer

The Body Shop’s Instablur

This is my absolute favourite primer! I usually used either Benefit’s Porefessional or Stay Flawless but my skin would still get oily after a few hours. At the end of last year I went to The Body Shop and one of the ladies working there said this was better than the Benefit’s and that it would prevent my skin from getting oily throughout the day. And I thought to my self “yeah, right! With my skin being as it is, it doubt that very much”. She gave me a sample and I never really used it because I didn’t believe it was going to work. But then it started getting warmer here – and my skin oilier – so I decided to give it a go. The verdict: I’m gobsmacked! It works wonders, it’s magic in a tube! If you have super oily skin like me, you need this in your life. I apply it before I do my make-up in the morning and, at the end of the day, my nose will be a bit shiny but that’s it, the rest of my face will be almost as it was right after I did my make-up in the morning. It sells for €17 here in Portugal (around $19 / £12), which is almost half the price of the Porefessional.

Moisturiser

2

Again, my favourite moisturiser is from The Body Shop, from their Seaweed range. I tried so many moisturisers before I found this one… So many that claimed to leave the skin shine-free all day while still moisturising – which none of them did. But then I read that the best moisturisers for oily skin were the ones with a gel-like consistency so I went and searched for one like that. I found this one and it does exactly what it claims: controls excess sebum and shine and moisturises dry areas. This alone won’t leave your skin matte, but it will reduce the oiliness while still keeping you moisturised.

A good foundation

3

Once more, I tried so many foundations that claimed to leave the skin looking matte all day…! The MAC Studio Fix Fluid is the only one that works on my skin: this alone will still leave me a bit oily at the end of the day, but this over the Instablur is absolute perfection!

Colourful blushes
4

I love blushes so much! Some people aren’t fond of them, some even skip blush when applying make-up, but if I’m wearing make-up, I’ll be wearing blush! I believe it makes you look much healthier and lively, you just have to find a colour (and finish) that works for you. For instance, I only wear matte blushes (I have a serious issue with sparkly stuff on my face, think it looks very unnatural) and they have to have a warm undertone. These two are my absolute favourites:

Kiko’s 105 (Dark Rose)

Bourjois 41 Healthy Mix (Bonne Mine)

Light/Neutral Eyeshadows

This palette is soooo pretty! It’s neutral and pretty for everyday but it also has darker eyeshadows that can be used to create a night time appropriate look. I’ll be posting my favourite looks from this palette very soon so keep an eye out for that 😉

Fresh / Floral Perfumes

15

These two are my favourite scents for the Spring and Summer. They are floral and fresh, they’re not sweet at all. With warmer weather, I don’t like to wear a perfume that’s also warm so I pick fresher, floral scents for this time of the year.  I’m actually freaking out because I’ve already gone through half of them both and I don’t ever want to run out of either one :-/

How about you, guys? I’d love to know your beauty essentials for this time of the year! Also, have you ever tried any of these products? If so, how do you feel about them?

Love,

Alice ❤

  1. Love the recommendations! I love the Body Shop! I just picked up the same moisturizer and I do love it myself as well (in moderation, or else it does take a while to dry down.) I picked up the squeeze packaging. Quick tip: don’t use your fingers, use Q-tips, for they are way more sanitary for your face.

Uso-o constantemente! xx
